Over the past weekend, The Law Offices of Saia & Piatt, Inc. hosted a DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Test Student Certification Course. The three-day course was held at the Hyatt Place Worthington in Columbus, September 19- 21. We are proud to announce that Attorneys Richard Piatt and Joseph Hada successfully completed this invaluable NHTSA and IACP approved course.
Attorney Jon Saia, who is known for providing aggressive OVI defense throughout Ohio, co-instructed the course with Robert F. LaPier, the premier instructor in DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. All attorneys who completed the course received the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s latest manual (2013 edition). Additionally, attendees who successfully completed the course could receive 19.75 CLE hours.
Attendees were trained on the steps taken by officers when determining whether a driver is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, as well as how to properly conduct standardized field sobriety tests (SFSTs). The course provided both classroom instruction and hands-on training, and attendees practiced performing SFSTs on test subjects who were voluntarily “dosed”.
